Presse
Die Forschungsgruppe hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, neue, für die Magnetresonanz (MR) relevante Kontrastmittelklassen zu erforschen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt aktuell auf der Erzeugung sogenannter hyperpolarisierter Moleküle, welche zu einer Signalverstärkung führen. Das Forschungsfeld verknüpft die Naturwissenschaften Chemie, Biologie und Physik mit der Medizin. Themengebiete von der chemischen Grundlagenforschung, der physikalischen Betrachtung des Phänomens und biochemischen Fragestellungen bis hin zu ersten Vorexperimenten in der medizinischen Bildgebung werden bearbeitet. Neben der Detektion von Protonen werden Signalverstärkungen auf Heterokernen (z.B. 19F) gemessen. Das Interesse an fluorhaltigen Moleküle begründet sich u.a. mit dem geringen Vorkommen im menschlichen Organismus, so dass keine Störsignale auftreten. Verschiedene Themen dieses Forschungsfeldes werden in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Leibniz-Institut für Neurobiologie, der TU Darmstadt und der Universität Bonn erforscht.
