UHF MRT

Our research group aims at advancing the development of ultra-high-field MRI systems with a specific focus on simulation-based UHF-MR technology development for MR-HF coils, UHF resonators and static B1-shimming using dielectric cushions.

MR coils are the mensuration interface between man and machine and provide a non-invasive insight into the human body. The main focus of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg’s Neuro-Excellence Centre is on the development and evaluation of MR coils for functional brain imaging and metabolism studies.

MR head coils are currently used in research into the neurophysiological differences between memory champions and normal subjects. These studies may provide further insights into the functions of short- and long-term memory, with particular regard to neurodegenerative diseases.

In collaboration with the partners listed below, our research group has already developed several brain imaging head coils for use in high-field magnetic resonance tomography (3T and 7T), which can be used for visual and auditory experiments in particular.
